FAQ

Everything you need to feel informed, supported, and at ease.

What is the difference between Couples Coaching and a Couples Retreat?

Couples COACHING provides a clear and structured framework for healing the deeper layers of your relationship challenges.
Together we explore what lies beneath recurring conflicts, unmet needs, or emotional shutdown, and we transform the destructive patterns that keep you stuck. You learn how to repair after ruptures (such as affairs, broken trust, or long-standing tension) and how to show up as a "healing team" even in difficult moments.
Because coaching unfolds within your daily life, it supports deep integration: the insights, skills, and new ways of relating become part of your everyday rhythm.
Depending on your situation, a 6- to 12-month arc allows for profound and sustainable transformation.

Couples RETREATS invite you into a spacious, resourced, and connected state of being. Away from daily responsibilities, your system naturally softens. The beauty of our selected locations, the presence of nature, and the intentional focus on your relationship create a field where intimacy can bloom with ease. Our retreats emphasize nourishment rather than problem-solving: joy, presence, embodied connection, sensuality, and the celebration of your emotional bond.
The change of environment and stepping into conscious time together, provides a powerful reset that supports your relationship on both an emotional and a Soul level.

If you feel drawn to both paths and don’t want to choose between Coaching and a Retreat, you can book a VIP Retreat. This is a highly personalized experience that integrates the nourishing holiday setting combined with individual Couples Sessions that can include therapeutic work when needed. The structure and depth of the process are shaped together with you and fully customized to your relationship, your situation, and your intentions.

How do I know whether we need Coaching or a Retreat?

COACHING
If you’re dealing with conflict, recurring patterns, emotional wounds, or communication breakdowns, Coaching is usually the best entry point.

RETREAT
If you function well together yet have slowly lost touch with your deeper connection because daily duties, work, or childcare fill the space between you, a Retreat may be more suitable.
You might long for nourishment, intimacy, play, and a shared reset for your relationship. Traditional holidays often add new distractions — sightseeing, planning, constant activity — instead of feeding the emotional bond.
A Soul 2 Soul Couples Retreat offers spacious, intentional time designed to truly nurture and rekindle your connection.

Do we have to be in crisis to benefit from coaching?

No, not at all. In fact, it’s often very helpful to start coaching before you ever reach a deep crisis point. If you want to gain more awareness of your relationship dynamics, deepen your intimacy, or align your relationship more closely with your souls, coaching can be a wonderful preventative measure.
It’s a bit like taking care of a car before anything breaks down—you maintain and nurture your relationship so you can avoid bigger issues down the road.

Can we join a Retreat if we’re currently struggling as a couple?

This depends on the level of your current challenge.
If you’re in active conflict, experiencing emotional distance that feels overwhelming, or stuck in painful repetitive cycles, Couples Coaching is usually recommended first. It helps create the stability and emotional safety needed before entering the more spacious, resource-oriented field of a retreat.

If you’re drawn to the retreat setting but also need therapeutic support, you can book a VIP Retreat. This is a highly personalized experience that combines the nourishing holiday environment with individual Couples Sessions that can include therapeutic work when needed. The structure and depth of the process are shaped together with you and fully customized to your relationship, your situation, and your intention.

Can coaching and retreats be combined?

Yes. If you begin with coaching to navigate acute challenges in your relationship, a retreat can later become a heartfelt way to honor the journey you’ve been on together. It’s a beautiful opportunity to celebrate the healing and deeper understanding you’ve cultivated in a relaxed and joyful retreat setting.

Conversely, if you start with a retreat, you might find that it brings a new awareness of areas you’d like to explore more deeply. In that case, you can continue with a series of coaching sessions after the retreat to gently support that deeper unfolding.

How do we begin if we’re unsure which pathway to choose?

Begin with a free, no-obligation call. Together we gently explore where you are in your relationship, what you’re longing for, and which pathway — Coaching, a Retreat, or a combination — feels most supportive for you right now.

Do you offer online coaching?

Yes. All coaching can be done online, allowing you to join from anywhere, with flexible timing and evening availability.

Does Soul 2 Soul Coaching include therapeutic work?

Yes. Esther is highly trained in depth-psychology–oriented psychotherapy, integrative couples therapy, and trauma-informed methods.
With more than 30 years of therapeutic experience, she holds a safe and attuned space that supports healing, nervous system regulation, and relational repair.

What happens during a couples coaching session?

We explore your relationship dynamics, clarify core needs,
understand emotional wounds,
address conflict patterns,
and strengthen conscious relating.

Sessions may include dialogue work, nervous system regulation, Soul-guided practices (meditation and intuition), and communication tools that help you cultivate your love relationship with more clarity, presence, and compassion.

The therapeutic couples coaching is grounded in the understanding that, while we often assume we all share the same universe, each of us actually lives in our own inner world shaped by our unique experiences and perceptions.
Esther supports you in expressing your inner experience in a way your partner can truly receive, and she lovingly facilitates the same for your partner so that you both learn to understand and connect with each other’s universe more deeply. This makes it possible to bridge differences with clarity, compassion, and a new level of conscious relating.

What kind of issues can Coaching help with?

Couples coaching can help with a wide range of relationship challenges such as:

° communication breakdowns

° emotional disconnection

° recurring conflicts

° jealousy & insecurity

° affairs or breaches of trust

° trauma triggers in the relationship

° parenting overwhelm

° differences in parenting styles

° navigating a health crisis

° stress from major life transitions

° rebuilding intimacy after long stagnation

° challenges with desire or sexual mismatch

What happens during a Soul 2 Soul retreat?

Each day of a Soul 2 Soul retreat includes about three hours of intentional couple time. Mostly in guided group sessions and sometimes as additional self-paced partner explorations like journaling or partner inquiries.
We also offer optional group excursions, such as dolphin watching or visiting powerful natural sites and local landmarks (e.g. temples in Bali). Beyond that, you’ll have free time to simply relax and enjoy your surroundings like a holiday.
It’s a perfect mix of structured connection time and open, holiday-style freedom to enjoy as you wish.

Will there be interaction with other couples during the retreat?

All exercises in the group sessions are done solely between you and your partner. There’s no requirement to exchange or do exercises with other couples, so you can remain entirely within your own bubble if you prefer.
While you’ll have the option to connect with other couples during free time if you wish, there’s absolutely no pressure to do so. You’re welcome to simply enjoy your own private experience and focus entirely on each other.

Will there be any nudity or sexual interaction during the group sessions?

No, there will not be any nudity or explicit sexual interaction in the group sessions.
However, we do include exercises designed to increase joy, liveliness, and sensual energy in a fully clothed and respectful manner.
Any sexual interaction is entirely private and can take place in the way you as a couple feel comfortable in your own room. We honor and support your journey back to sensuality and sexual intimacy in a safe and consensual space.

Might the retreat bring up challenging emotions?

Our retreats are created to be nourishing, gentle, and deeply supportive. For most couples, the experience brings more joy, connection, and ease rather than emotional challenge. While we invite vulnerability as a natural part of the heart-opening process, it is generally rare for challenging feelings to arise in a way that feels overwhelming.

What we can assure you is that you will be held in a safe, professionally guided space at all times. And if you would like extra support, you can book an individual coaching session with Esther during the retreat.

Can we book a private retreat just for the two of us?

Yes. Our VIP Couple Retreat is for one couple only. It is tailored entirely to your needs, with personalized sessions, flexible timing, and the option for therapeutic coaching if desired. The structure and depth of the process are shaped together with you and fully customized to your relationship, your situation, and your intentions.

What if we need integration after the retreat?

Each couples retreat includes an integration call about four weeks afterward to help you reflect, anchor insights, and support the transition back into daily life.

If you feel called to continue the process more deeply, you can also book online coaching sessions to further integrate the retreat experience into your everyday relationship.

Are the Soul 2 Soul offerings suitable for couples with no experience in mindfulness or spirituality?

Absolutely. All practices are guided, gentle, and accessible and no prior experience is needed.
Our work includes the spiritual dimension of being human, but in a grounded way, rooted in meditation, presence, and Soul guidance rather than anything esoteric or “woo-woo.” You will be held safely and respectfully at every step, whether this is your first experience with conscious relating or a continuation of your own inner journey.

What if one of us is more open to this work than the other?

For COACHING:
If one partner is less open or even skeptical, you can still join as a couple. Esther meets each person with non-judgmental empathy and no pressure at all. With her warmhearted, sensitive approach, she gently invites the more hesitant partner to express their concerns and needs so they feel included and safe from the very beginning.

If you feel a strong urge to work on your relationship and your partner isn’t open yet, you can begin the process on your own. Often, once one person starts inner work, the dynamic naturally shifts and the other partner becomes more receptive. When your partner is ready to join, Esther will onboard them with a one-on-one session first, ensuring they feel seen and safe before continuing with the couples work together.

For RETREATS, the setting is very gentle and low-pressure, making it a great starting point even if one partner is a bit more cautious. Unlike a seminar that goes deep all day, our retreats weave in just a few hours of intentional couple time each day. This makes it a very gentle and approachable way for both partners to ease into the world of conscious relating.

We are parents. Is there extra support for us?

We understand the needs of parents, especially those with young children.

For COACHING, we offer flexible evening sessions so you can have your coaching time once the kids are asleep, without needing an extra babysitter.

For RETREATS, while we unfortunately cannot guarantee on-site childcare, some retreats may have options for arranging a babysitter. Just reach out to us in advance, and we’ll let you know what’s possible for that particular retreat.

Are LGBTQ+ couples welcome?

Sure. Our work is inclusive and celebrates all forms of love.

In which languages are coachings and retreats offered?

We provide flexibility between English and German for all our offers.
Couples coaching and all VIP retreats can be held in English or German, depending on the couples language.

For our group retreats, we offer them in either German or English, depending on the participants. If we have a mixed-language group, we can also provide consecutive translation, so that everyone feels comfortable and included.
